Mark A. McCleary
[i] Pastor Mark McCleary was moved to act after hearing the latest death stats in Baltimore by a local news outlet (August 17, 2017). He had the video recording of a live play, “One Hour 2 Live,” written by Reverend Princeton Holt about the cold-blooded reality of social-gang murder. He then sought the opinion of his nephew, Reverend Edward Mason Jr, who responded “positively” by bringing Dr. Joseph Davis.
Together, we reflected and then launched The One Hour 2 Live Project by sharing its multiphase vision, mission, and objectives in several public meetings with religious, community, and business leaders to gather their feedback. We intentionally scheduled these meeting for the morning and evening and in West to East Baltimore locations to facilitate attendance. As Christian pastors, we especially sensed the need and sought the attention and participation of pastors because they and their congregations are centers of influence in their communities.
In the 150 days plus since we launched this Project, we have met with and partnered with the leadership of Ceasefire, Our Victorious City, BUILD, MOMS, and the Reginald F. Lewis African American Museum. We are grateful for their welcoming spirit that motivated this Project to develop and successfully implement Hoop Don’t Hurt (aka Shoot hoops not each other) at the Cloverdale basketball courts during the Ceasefire 72-hour event, November 3-5; STAND for Solidarity (last seven Sundays, 3-3:30p.m. at the center of Baltimore, at the intersections of Baltimore and Charles Streets; where N-S and E-W converge); an Ecumenical Service for Healing, especially for families of violence/murder victims (January 7, 2018 at Coppin State University), and gained invitation and approval to have the video version of “One Hour 2 Live” shown at the Reginald Lewis African American Museum during is 2p.m. film series for Black History month, 2018.
The One Hour 2 Live Project’s first official venture was the PREMIER showing of the video at the historic Senator Theater, 5904 York Rd, Baltimore, MD (November 6, 2017), which was well received by attendees and news channels. Attendees registered and bought their refreshment, then left testifying “How can I support, participate, and or donate to this Project for the good of Baltimore?”
Since November 21, 2017, The Project launched a weekly radio program with Radio One (1010 AM; WOLB), Tuesday afternoon (3-4 p.m.) to keep telling the story and next steps for The One Hour 2 Live Project.
The Project needs supporters, participants, donors, and contributors to realize its vision, mission and objective for reducing social-gang violence and murder toward its elimination in Baltimore. The Project can be contacted via Theonehour2liveproject.net or firstname.lastname@example.org.
My story, My desire, and My resume
I am Mark A. McCleary. I have pastored multiple churches from Kansas to Missouri to New Jersey to Pennsylvania, DC, and Maryland, almost 40 years. While pastoring every parish, I worked with its surrounding community for its betterment, regardless of church affiliation. This approach yielded valuable experience and prompted me to develop my personal vision and mission statements, respectively: “To be recognized as a good pastor by my congregants and a helpful and accessible chaplain to their various communities,” and “To be a role of Christian values to inspire positive lifestyle transformation in others.”
As I reach the twilight of my professional service years, my resume says I am wiser and still hungry to fulfill my calling. During the past 40 years, I have accumulated a wealth of skills for establishing, growing, and administrating groups for improving life and resource access. To fight poverty, disparity, and help with practical issues, this appeal expresses my desire to be “glocal”—have local impact with global outreach. “Glocal” means to have a local presence while global indicates impact across international borders via cyberspace mediums. There are many, unchurched and “churched” (inactive or lethargic), who need mentoring and assistance as they pilgrimage in time and space.
I need your help to “glocalize” my gifts and skills in activism regarding social justice (anti-harassment, community activism), counseling (individual, relational), and organizational development. What better way to start than by Internet Radio and a website for telling my story and offering my service expertise for engaging, to-date, unknown, but hungry persons and groups for building them as individuals and or transforming them from a have-not to a have condition, from under privileged to privileged, or from an “outsider” to a participant with capacity to pay it forward.
Mark McCleary Ministries is my desire and determination to “glocalize” over 40 years of pastoral and social service expertise offered as a best practices and cutting-edge practitioner of essential, venue-specific, and practical services. Your fiscal or in-kind donation and feedback will help me share and apply my vision, mission, and objectives beyond where I am in time and space, as well as at an aggregate level. Thank You, in advance!
